Blast from the past with Noodles

Have you ever been in a situation where you were just standing there and something from your past just came into mind? I don't know why, but an obviously memorable 'scene' from middle school lunch came to mind.

At the Teague Middle School cafeteria they used to offer "Noodle Bowls." Pretty much a bowl of Chinese-style noodles with vegetables and such. Anyways, when a student would go up to the counter and order the noodle bowl, there was one lady who would yell, "NOOOOOOOODLE BOWL" in a Spanish-esq accent at the top of her lungs for some reason (I was never sure why, but she did). No one really said anything to her about it but one day the guy who cleans the tables got really fed-up and yelled, "SHUT UP! YOU DAMN NATZI!" in front of everyone. We all got really really quiet and just watched.

What happened next can hardly be put into words, but I remember the lunch lady saying something under her breath in Spanish, him slowly starting back his work, and life just quickly continuing on as if nothing really happened.

bored? No. Board.

I finally got my designer Beer-Pong Board finished. Now I will not be bored.

Awesome.

Double Duty

Today I volunteered at both, the Ronald McDonald House and the Atlanta Children's Shelter. Played with kids at both - so in total, I think I put in a sold 4 hours today with kids under the age of 5. They have SO much energy - I don't want kids.

After going to the Children's Shelter today I realized that there are SO many kids out there who need someone just talk to them and give them some attention. And the things they know at such a young age is incredible. Many of the kids know that their mom, dad, or both are in jail or are living in a 'permanent house' as they call it. You don't really have to ask - they'll just tell you, and for it to be on the top of their mind at such a young age - it's pretty crazy. I recommend this place if you're looking for somewhere to work/volunteer.

Ten-Hut!

I saw a US soldier today in his B.D.U's. I wanted to say something encouraging to him as he looked really young - but nothing really came out.

The only thing I could say was, "Thanks."

Next time you see a soldier, say thanks, or show them you care. Not a lot of people say it - but I'm sure they appreciate it. Too many times in history have soldiers not been thanked or shown appreciation for what they do - and especially with this war, before it's too late.

Lemme Buy You a Draank

For some reason I'm really having a great time with life. Not much is going on, but life is good - staying really busy and enjoying it. Sure I'm not getting any cash for any of it, but hey - you don't always need money.

Living the good life these days tho - I've been giving tours again - this morning was my biggest tour ever - about 50 people. Why they gave me 50, I don't know - but they were fun.

Hmm - tomorrow I volunteer - I think I'm going to go to both places - The Children's Orphanage and Ronald McDonald House (lets just hope they don't make me clean rooms again).

Nothing else for now.

Mornings

I think I've really found my niche this summer - I've gotten to a point where I like going to bed early, waking up early, and going to the gym. Not a bad feeling to get things actually done in the day. Sure, I'm not working, but there are a lot of things to do --

Giving a tour today, writing today, and hopefully hanging out with some friends.

Shit! Gatta go - I guess they need me in the Admissions a little early, and I'm late. Didn't check the calendar.

Crazy Few Days!

Wow! Last time I posted was on the 27th, but I realized that there were a lot of things that have gone on. I went to a braves game, volunteered, ran, gym'd, wrote, read...

Okay, maybe it doesn't sound like much - but it's nice to just sit back and relax every once and a while - especially with my sister being here and all - life is good. I really enjoy having her around.

Tonight was team trivia - I don't think I've said it before, but my team, Team Blumpkin (if you know what it means - awesome!), has been playing for weeks now at Tin Roof on North Druid Hills. If you wanna play on a Tuesday night at 8, let me know -- the more the marrier. We play win.

OH! I just remembered - I finished up my entire site (for now): http://www.RajivBahl.com

That thing took me forever to do, but it's finally done and running - so go on and play.

Nothing else today - it was a crazy day - I'll do a proper update tomorrow -

Stairs/Escalators

Have you ever noticed that escalators never really break down? When they stop working - they become stairs.

That's the nice thing about escalators.
